30 Dec 2012 was the maiden day at Tuas. Appproximately 3mph headwind on the runway — an ideal condition to maiden all sorts of RC aircrafts.
But the Nemesis was exceptional. This is a pylon plane, my very first high-speed machine.
Powered by OS95VFS (four stroke nitro engine), the plane with relatively high wing loadings was about set to take off. As usual, all pre-flight checks were done on the ground and anything missed out might spell out trouble when the plane had lifted off the ground.
Just over 3.6kg on a 1.4m winger is not about flying anymore, it is about speed. And I was right!
The plane took off like any other planes I had and to my surprise, it was pretty easy to fly her. Required only a click on up elevator, the plane would fly like a dream. Rolls and knife-edge were crisp. No bad habit.
The plane did a straight level flight with max throttle at around 130kph. Extremely straight, extremely obedient!
It took me 3 attempts to get it landed safely on the tarmac runway. Landing was pretty hot for a beginner like me. But I did it! The crowd around me cheered and that gave me the ultimate satisfaction of RC flying!
